"PERFECT PARTNERS"
THE ROSS MITCHELL SOUND

Pre-release review by Charles Scott
(Premier Ballroom Dancing DJ, England)

I have just received an advance copy of Ross Mitchell's new CD called 'Perfect Partners'
by 'The Ross Mitchell Sound' !!  Think of Ray Conniff, add wonderful arrangements and the
experience of Ross, playing drums and percussion, then you have a superb dance CD.
If I could give it marks out of ten I would give it TEN ... I have often heard dancers say
"I do or do not like vocals" this CD reaches a happy medium with a sound that will suit
all dancers.

All the tracks are well known tunes, for example "You're The Cream In My Coffee" and
"But Not For Me" are two excellent Quicksteps.  I love both Waltzes "Lollipops and
Roses" (my favourite) and " Wives And Lovers".  In my opinion both Foxtrots are really
first class - from My Fair Lady "On The Street Where You Live" and a golden oldie with
a lovely sound and new arrangement There's A Small Hotel".  The Tango "You And The
Night And The Music" needless to say is very good.  The Last track in the Modern section
is the Viennese Waltz "Summer Place".

Moving to the Latin tracks with a very unusual arrangement of "I'm In The Mood For Love"
....... wait for it ....... a Cha Cha Cha together with "Teach Me Tonight" - excellent.  I found
the Sambas have spot on tempo that will have your feet tapping.  You just can't go wrong
with the lovely tunes "That Old Black Magic" and "Night And Day", the Latin dancers will
love these Sambas.  The same can be said for the beautiful Rumbas "Guantanamera" and
"Quiet Nights".  There is only one Paso-Doble on this CD and it has been heard on an earlier
recording by Ross, but with this new arrangement and recording it is even better than before.
The last track is a great favourite of mine, I can remember playing this tune when I played in
a dance band many years ago .....  it is the classic "Muskrat Ramble" a jive that will have
you rocking in the aisles.

I often hear people say " I have just purchased a CD but there are only a couple of tracks
that are any good" - NOT SO WITH THIS CD, EVERY TRACK IS FIRST CLASS.
As soon as it is released, rush out and buy it, you will not be disappointed.
ROSS, THIS IS YOUR BEST RECORDING TO DATE ... CAN WE HAVE THE SAME
'SOUND' ON YOUR NEXT CD.

"PERFECT PARTNERS"
THE ROSS MITCHELL SOUND

'POWER OF MUSIC'
review by Bryan Allen
(Dance News, England)

"PERFECT PARTNERS",  every dancer's dream but without doubt the partnership between
the dancers and the music is of vital importance.  Over these last years most music has been
vocalist lead, quite different from the era of Victor Silvester and his Orchestra.    Has the fashion
begun to change now I wonder, for the latest release from Dance And Listen is The Ross Mitchell
Sound CD with the title PERFECT PARTNERS, reference No. DLD 1096 and is quite a departure
from his normal productions.  Almost non-vocal tracks but the attractive 'Ray Conniff' sound style
addition makes this CD one of ground breaking productions of the year.

All ten main dances rhythms, all in perfect tempo as currently laid down, all excellent for dancing
at every level, beginners to champions.  There are some tracks that are certain to be among your
own personal favourites but all of them are top quality recordings.  Ross Mitchell, playing the drums
on this CD, is recognised world wide as a perfect partner for competition dancing, being able to work
without difficulty within the timescale demands that are often placed upon him.

The sleeve notes are written by Marcus and Karen Hilton, the most successful Ballroom couple
of all time, described by many as 'perfect partners', so we have here dancers and music coming
together in perfect harmony !  Indeed  'PERFECT PARTNERS'.

"PERFECT PARTNERS"
THE ROSS MITCHELL SOUND

CD review by Bryan Allen
(to be featured in Ballroom Dancing Times)

Ross Mitchell, His Orchestra And Singers are among the world's leading providers of
dance music on CD.  In a slight departure from their normal sound style we now have
'THE ROSS MITCHELL SOUND', excellent dance music in almost non-vocal style
but the background very reminiscent of Ray Conniff.  Quickstep, Waltz, Tango, Slow Foxtrot,
Viennese Waltz with Cha Cha Cha,Samba, Rumba, Paso-Doble and Jive are included on
'PERFECT PARTNERS', reference No.DLD 1096.   As everyone of us knows the partnership
between dancers and music is a fundamental one and both strive for perfection between each
other.  Some fine old standards are included among the titles selected for this CD such as
You're The Cream In My Coffee, Lollipops And Roses, There's A Small Hotel, Teach Me
Tonight, That Old Black Magic, Quiet Nights and Muskrat Ramble.

It was, I believe, without realising the certain connection that would be made by many that
Ross Mitchell asked Marcus And Karen Hilton to write the sleeve notes for this CD.   Often
thought of as the perfect partners this couple, who are the most successful competitive dance
partnership of all time, could not have been a better choice for the CD PERFECT PARTNERS !
