Philip Wylie and Pam Peters in conjunction with Ross and Cindy Mitchell of Dance And Listen Limited once again presented this popular pre British event and where pleased to advise dancers everywhere of changes and recent developments.
Firstly the changes: Traditionally the event has been held on a Monday but for the benefit of all dancers the Dance And Listen Awards became a day of dancing - the date Sunday 13th May 2001.  The format remained the same:
Professional Modern, Amateur Latin, Senior Modern, Junior Latin, Juvenile Modern, but with an operational change of the introduction of a repecharge system thereby ensuring that all competitors will dance at least twice.
The Sunday programme featured the five awards with excellent prize structures as follows:
The Professional Standard Award     (£600, £300, £200, £100, £75, £75)
The Amateur Latin Award                    (£300, £150, £100, £50, £40, £40)
The Senior Standard Award                (£150, £75, £50, £40, £25, £25)
The Junior Latin Award                        (£60, £30, £20, £15, 15, £15)
The Juvenile Standard Award             (£40, £20, £ 5, £10, £ 10, £10)
In addition to the five competitive events there was a unique event for all dancers in the audience, "DANCE WITH A CHAMPION". This year's 'Dance With A Champion' (Waltz & Quickstep) event was open to all in the audience, other than professionals and those taking part in the Competitions. Novice, Intermediate, Social Dancer or Medallist all had their chance to 'Dance With A Champion'. The participating Champions  this year where :-

Music for Sunday night was provided by Ross Mitchell, His Band And Singers and Charles Scott And His Music.

SATURDAY 12TH MAY 2001     Marked the introduction of a Dance And Listen Weekend with a special evening of Modern and Latin Social Dancing, music by The Ross Mitchell Combo together with Charles Scott And His Music plus a Dance Cabaret by Champions Matthew and Nichole Cutler.

A souvenir programme was prepared for the "Dance And Listen Weekend" with all advertising proceeds being donated to 'The Iain Rennie Hospice at Home' - their nurses cared for Lynn Alice in her home before she died earlier this year (Lynn was one of the singers with Ross Mitchell, His Band And Singers for many years).
